If you’ve ever struggled to create engaging graphics for your small business social media, then you’re likely one of the millions of entrepreneurs who feel like they just aren’t the artistic type. Social media is a mainstay for small business advertising, as I showed in an earlier post. Through the years, I’ve tried dozens of times to create polished, professional quality graphics using just my imagination and a basic paint program on my computer. However, the results never satisfied me. None of them matched what I really wanted to present to the world on social media. It wasn’t until I found the Desygner app that I could finally create graphics to be proud of.

Desygner is an online program so you can use it anywhere, on any device with internet access. You can create your free account by signing in with your email, Facebook or Google accounts. There is a premium subscription service as well, with monthly or annual fees. But, I find the free version has plenty to work with to get you started. The program is set up so the unskilled can design and create banners, posters, invitations, Facebook covers, business cards, social media posts & much more.
Desygner Functionality
Whether you are using the desktop version or the mobile app, it is really easy to get started on your first project. All you need to do is pick a project type, and then choose a pre-formatted template to work with. The more experienced and creative designers can start with a blank project and build it as they go.
Desygner: Upload your own photos to make quality graphics
The menus on both versions are very easy to navigate. Everything is essentially drag and drop within the project. The wide variety of stock photographs available already within the program, even the free version, impressed me. If you’re a good photographer, you can also upload your own.
You can create unique designs that fit your brand with the large number of fonts and the easy customization of the layouts. Let’s face it, when you’re just starting out, you’ve got better things to spend your money on. Who wants to pay for a professional to create your social media posts?
Desygner Pricing
So far, I am thrilled with the free account on Desygner. The premium subscription offers thousands more pictures and templates. You also get unlimited storage for your designs and the ability to upload custom fonts. And of course, you also get the ad-free experience.
The current price listed in the app is $7.49 per month, or the discounted annual price of $59.99. The web version, found at desygner.com has a price of $6.95 per month, or $54.00 annually. There is a free trial period to try out the premium service if you think you could benefit from the expanded features.
Alternatives
There are other design programs and apps in the marketplace for the less skilled designers. Canva most closely resembles the features of Desygner, although they offer the ability to purchase individual templates with the free account. The premium version price of Canva is nearly twice the amount as the cost for Desygner.
